Thistle Down

By Ethel

Friendship

My eyes beheld a diamond,
With ever changing hue.
Bright rays...that inter lock,
So genuine and blue.

Pointing out where character,
And wisdom lines are traced.
Where hate, and pride, and envy,
Have come forth all erased.

Where love is cut so deeply,
Beyond the realm of guile.
And a manifested closeness,
Is written in a smile.

Where tenderness is golden,
And innocence a part.
With bits of understanding,
All wrapped around the heart.

People are but jewels,
So treasured and so true.
And the diamond I see before my eyes,
Is no other gem...but you.
