Homeward bound...

All good things must come to an end, and today it was time for us to leave Arran. I think we all had a lovely time and benefited from the break and the sea air. We checked out, and D and I had our usual swim then headed for lunch at Cruize, as Brambles was closed for a wedding. We got a lovely table at the window overlooking the mountains so it was a lovely setting for our farewell meal.
On the way home I stopped off at the Arran Asia shop in Brodick, where I bought the rose quartz light I had admired earlier in the week. It will go beautifully in our living room, and will be a nice souvenir of our happy holiday.
The ferry was late! We have been visiting Arran since 1996 and this was the first time this had happened. We set off a little later than planned but still had a very pleasant journey back to the mainland.
On taking this picture, it occurred to me that the ferry service is a real lifeline for the island. This ship is the Caledonian Isles, which was built in 1993. She can carry up to 1,000 passengers and 110 cars. She is the only ship in the Calmac collection not to have a buff main mast... so now you know! A totally useless piece of information, unless it pops up in a pub quiz at some time..
