Invasion Imminent

There are many Blackthorn shrubs near the foreshore.

The dogs love rushing through these.

Over the past few days I have noticed many strange, web like structures.

They are on the branch tips.

Blowing in the wind.

Have no idea what they are.

However when I looked closely today, saw they are full of caterpillars.

There are thousands of these in the bushes.

Vary in size, large and small.

Some are huge.

Don't know what they will become.

Moths or butterflies ???

They do look quite sinister.

Never seen them before.

Some sort of invasion is imminent.
