Dubai airport lifts, fountains, water wall

After 14 hours aloft we reached Dubai – such an enormous airport full of men dressed in towels that didn't look very secure. I'm told they'd been on pilgrimage. There were lots of people dressed in different ethnic costumes too as it is a huge hub so there were Africans, Asians, huge numbers of Chinese and Europeans. The airport is magnificent, so much chrome and glass and polished marble – acres of it.

The flight to England from Dubai was very very turbulent and even the air crew had to be strapped in their seats for an hour or so. Was met at Gatwick by daughter Becky and will spend a couple of nights with the girls before going home.
