Peacock butterfly

Aglais io. Peacock butterflies wake from hibernation in late March / early April. They lay their eggs on nettles in batches of up to 400 at a time.

This one was sunning itself on the wall at the top of the lane. Looking good!

(Went from zero jobs to two jobs -part time - today so there may be fewer walks down the lane in future. We will see...)
