Souter lighthouse
Had a leisurely Sunday today. With a stroll along the Sunday market at the Quayside. Then went down to South Shields to visit the family and had a walk along the coast to Souter lighthouse. This is my favourite lighthouse as I really like the bold red & white stripes.
Souter lighthouse was opened in 1871 and was the first lighthouse in the world to be designed and built to be powered by electricity. It was decommissioned in 1988 and is now owned by The National Trust so you can visit and take a look inside.
