Happy Songkran Day

Today is an important day for the Thai people. It's Songkran Day which is basically their New Year.

One of their traditions is to have massive water fights in the streets. We took Ethan up to the main road of Khao Lak to join in and he LOVED it!

The road is a constant stream of pick up trucks, cars, motorbikes etc. They're all carrying big drums full of water, buckets and water pistols to throw at everyone as they drive by. At the side of the road are hundreds of people, also with drums full of water / watered down paint and hoses, which are used to soak all the people on the vehicles. The drivers often intentionally stop / slow down to have a quick water fight with you, before driving on to the next group of people. Great fun, and I don't think I've ever been as soaked in my life before!
