EVENING OUT
Johnny Breedt, a local resident, won an award for his brilliant contribution to the movie, "Mandela, Long Walk To Freedom". So it was fitting that Prince Albert should have its own premier with Johnny there to tell us all about it.
He has been involved with this project for twenty years and was able to share many interesting details with us.
Being responsible for the settings and details relating to the different periods depicted in the movie was a challenge - from 1920's to 1990 and from the rural huts to the city with the imposing High Court interiors (built to be identical) The simple shacks and the township house that Winny and Nelson began their married life were all re-created with great sensitivity. His attention to detail is meticulous and this enriches the experience of this amazing story.
The love story between Nelson and Winny is told with great sensitivity and one is moved by the loss that they suffered. The loss of a love that could not survive the harsh treatment that Winny endured during her imprisonment and the period that she was banished to Branford, far from family and friends.
I would be happy to see this movies again just to enjoy the period detail in the settings.
