Lizzie's Turn
After Sunday’s episode of “Snuffy’s being cute again”, Lizzie thought she’d try it and see what all the fuss is about. I don’t think she’s as good at it as Snuffy is, but she’s clearly got her own flair. I’ve never been sure what her paw posture is all about -- she folds her back feet up and curls her toes in too. I didn’t dare show the whole body view because her stomach gets in the way. She is, after all, a plus size kitty and particularly sensitive about her tummy.
I’ve been working my way through one of my Great Courses DVDs – “The Fundamentals of Photography” and I’ve got to say, I’m really loving it. Joel Sartore is the instructor and I find him easy to understand and we’re getting along famously. I found that over the years I’ve come to rely on “Auto” or “Program” a little too much and I want to learn more about depth of field and what exactly can be done with slow or fast shutter speeds and that dreaded “Manual” mode. The nice thing about the DVDs is that I can play them as many time as I want to I don’t have to try and understand it all at once.
I have a question for any blipper out there who would care to weigh in. Mr. Sartore says the best basic lens to have is a 24-70mm. He did say they’re expensive and when I found out just how expensive they are I decided not to rush out and buy one. I’m thinking of renting one for a few days, but I thought I’d ask if anyone uses one and has an opinion they’d care to share.
