Drenched but bright

The sun did not shine until the very end of the day, and it rained almost continously! But my crimson wallflowers are coming out bravely, and contrast well with the paler tulips. Tomorrow they will dry out in the sun (perhaps) and their colour will deepen.

I went into town this afternoon to enrol our bookclub in the Library borrowing scheme (they were so helpful) and thought I might just pop into the new Waitrose for the ingredients to make a Simnel cake.
But it was very crowded! I think it has been packed out with eager shoppers since it opened last Thursday. And normally the car park is fairly empty on a (wet) Monday afternoon - not now!!
