The Farmers' Market

It was extremely busy at the Farmers’ Market this morning. The weekly market was held as usual in the A & P Showgrounds. The Zirca Circus had been set up in the grounds as well and the brightly coloured big top made for an interesting background. The Zirca Circus is an animal-free circus with a happy family atmosphere.
Although none are in sight in this image there were many cyclists at the market. All dressed up in their colourful Lycra gear, many had been out cycling to recover from the gruelling Forrest Grape-ride cycle race which was held here in Marlborough yesterday. One cyclist told me that the race entries were capped at 2500 persons. Add another few thousand of race supporters, family friends and on-lookers it was no wonder Marlborough was buzzing yesterday and that there was an influx of visitors enjoying the Farmers’ Market today.
I thoroughly enjoy visiting the Farmers’ Market. Apart from the chance to buy fresh fruit and vegetables and other produce I find the market to be an extremely social place. There are always heaps of friends and acquaintances there to meet and greet and spend time with. I also enjoy talking with visitors to our lovely region. Visitors come from within New Zealand and from all over the world. The market is indeed a buzzy place.
