A purple poem for DandiFest

A wonderful bloke I met through various protests and actions in Norwich, John William Brown, penned this poem - 'Wear Purple' - for DandiFest which launched on FaceBook today and made me smile.

You’re never too young to wear purple,
You’re never too young to wear pink,
You could wear cerise right down to your knees;
You’re much older than you think.

You don’t need to be old to wear purple,
Or, even a garish lime green;
“Make hay”, they say, “You don’t need be Gay,
To wear pastel blue like the Queen.”

You don’t have to be old to wear purple,
Or fluorescent yellow in Fall,
Nor, bright velvet red from your toes to your head;
You can tart-up and not be on call.

You don’t need to have died to have purple,
Or, puce as a loose shroud, so cool;
You don’t need to be dead and weighing like lead
To be draped in a deep purple pall.

No, you’re never too young to wear purple
With a great floppy hat and long scarf;
You don’t need to be old, cold dead, just be bold!
Come on, now! We all need a laugh!

Today was a better day - anxieties of yesterday overcome and although I was up and out at a very early hour it meant that I got to see loads of rabbits hopping around the campus. It was like Watership Down!
