First Butterfly of Year in Garden

Saw a strange phenomenon and rushed for camera: two Small Tortoiseshell butterflies were chasing a Bumblebee around the garden, in a frenzy of combat (? Spitfires and Messerschmidt). I would have put the bee as the faster, and certainly it escaped.

Then I found one butterfly on a flower and got the shot. Next I saw two Bumblebees nestling together, apparently sleeping peacefully, and again captured. A productive couple of minutes.

Took the hint from the wee beasts, went for a cycle ride, and then settled down on the settee with a book. Nice afternoon.
