Tiananmen Adventures
Today we woke up to a Chinese breakfast - chicken nuggets are a weird thing to see at breakfast but very tasty! Then we went to Tiananmen Square, you thing from watching the news and documentaries you would know how big to expect it is but it was by far larger than I had ever expected - it can I old up to 1 million people at one time. Our first stop at the square was visiting chairmen moa's mausoleum. It was about a half hour long que but we were able to entertain ourselves by waving at and posing for the Chinese taking our photographs - they were so excited to see white people we felt like celebrities! We then visited the urban planning museum and the mini scale model of Beijing gave you a real sense of how big the city truly is! After lunch we headed into the forbidden city, which is massive all 9,999 rooms - nine is a special number in china. We then walked back to our hotel and had dinner.
This photograph was taken looking across one of the court yard toward East Beijing with the throne room on my left and morning tea room behind me. I really like the repetition and line in the photo leading you through the different levels.
