The Last of Washington State

The chill of winter
hangs in the air and wraps all
around the landscape

We've had a short journey today. Moses Lake, Washington to Oroville, Washington. We are just about 3 miles from the border into Canada this evening. We're staying the night in an RV park. Tomorrow morning we proceed across the border and hope to be home long before dark (hopefully).

We left Moses Lake in warm sunshine. It wasn't too many miles on highway 17 that the sun was lost to us. Skies are grey once more. The forecast for tonight is mixed rain and snow with a low of 37 degrees Fahrenheit. No television service in this park and the internet, although 'free' is less than stellar. Not sure if I will be able to post this before I'm home again.

The best part of this lap is the fruit-growing areas along highway 97 as we near the border. There are many orchards and vineyards that can be seen from the highway. There were workers about in some orchards. The trees are still bare skeletons. Ladders were up and workers were trimming branches.

We had to stop along the highway for a shot of the old green Chevrolet van we've passed several times before. D seems to be quite interested in this one. Not sure where we'd put it if we brought it home.

When the trailer was leveled and plugged in, I climbed up into it ready for a glass of wine. Max, the Mini Moose had fallen over onto my sewing machine case. He sprawled as if all in. I had to think that I'm feeling somewhat the same after 2 weeks in the trailer, mostly without running water. It's time to get home and settle once again.
