Bits and Bobs!

Delectation!

After the boiled rice and 14 hours sleep, Chef was feeling a bit better this morning, so we headed into Bath to the weekly Farmers' Market to buy a variety of local products. Food in Singapore is so expensive that my brother loves shopping in the UK, and always heads home with a suitcase bulging with all sorts of gastronomic goodies!

As it was such a gorgeous Spring day, we continued on to the picturesque Wiltshire village of Castle Combe, where we sat outside The Castle Inn Hotel and soaked up the sunshine with a drink (mineral water for those on an enforced fast!).

"Ranked No. 2 in The Times's 30 best villages, Castle Combe is renowned for its attractiveness and tranquillity, and for its fine buildings including the medieval church. The 14th century market cross, erected when the privilege to hold a weekly market in Castle Combe was granted, is situated where the three principal streets converge. Some small stone steps near the cross were for horse riders to mount and dismount and close by are the remains of the buttercross." Wikipedia

Normal kitchen service has been resumed this afternoon, and the Chef is feeling much better, so this evening's menu:

Ricotta Spelt Cakes (for starters)

Aubergine Curry (for veggie heads)
Chicken in Cider (for those who don't like Venison)
Pot Roast Venison (for everyone else!)

All washed down with the Blackberry Vodka which should have matured by now!!
