Desperation x 3!

My brother, who lives in Singapore, was working in London this week so he popped down to the West Country today, for the weekend. He is a real foodie, and a very adventurous and inventive cook, and whenever he comes home, he loves nothing better than stocking up on local delicacies and trying out his creations on us.

To his delight, our new Waitrose supermarket opened last week so off we headed this afternoon, to stock up on goodies for the weekend. However, once we got to there, he was taken suddenly and violently ill with suspected food poisoning (Desperation No1!). We managed to get home ok, but this evening's menu has had to change and this evening we are serving plain boiled rice (Desperation No 2!).

As well as having to adapt today's menu, our plans for the day had to be changed, and so all I have to offer you is a photo of our Waitrose shopping expedition (Desperation No 3!).
