Let the War Games Commence

This is HMS Dauntless playing hide and seek in Broad Bay. A huge military exercise starts on Monday, so I wonder if she is getting ready for battle? That radar probing miles over the horizon searching for "enemy" aircraft.

Here she was just weighing anchor - it was almost as if they knew I had spotted them. Shortly after, she turned and headed out into the Minch.

During these war games, our normal sleepy hollow of airspace gets ripped open by fast jets attacking ships and shore targets, GPS jamming makes navigation that bit more tricky (in emergency we can get them to switch the jammers off). The flip side is we tend to see more dolphins and whales, although I have horrible feeling that all the underwater military activity has something to do with that.
