Aquamarine/Nanna K's Day

The "Charley"

A glorious morning for a row. (note there are shadows!) I had the little Sony with me so could not resist a photo of this boat, the Charley MacIntyre, with some members of a new mixed masters club out of Pocock Rowing Center. The UW fields and dorms are behind.. We worked hard a few years ago to make this quad (4 person, 2 sculling oars each) a reality as a memorial to our long time coach, Charley. He had been out rowing with us until very shortly before he died at 85. My goal is to be able to get in and get out of one of these skinny boats when I am 85. (But could someone carry it down to the water, please? :-)) Some of his ashes are buried in the fiberglass in this Pocock coxless quad (not everyone knows this….) so when we see it out, we tip our hats and give thanks to Charley for turning us on to this wonderful sport.

This afternoon found us at a fine performance at Pacific Northwest Ballet of contemporary work.
