The Constant Companions

My last few days at the poolside in Florida have been spent with Spain by Graham Hunter.
It is the story of La Roja's historic treble - Euro Champs, World Champs, Euro Champs.
This is another stunning book from Hunter who had previously written the equally excellent, Barca.
You can say he has been very lucky that his time in Spain has coincided with the domination of Barcelona and Spain. But both books go much deeper than merely recounting matches, events and score lines. They are the result of hard work, unbelievable contacts in both teams for a foreign journalist and a real understanding of the history and philosophy of Barca and Spain.
If you enjoy the human stories behind success, you will love Spain - a football book that tells the story of a nation emerging from the tyranny of dictatorship to reach the very top of the sporting world.
A couple of Margaritas during Happy Hour finished off the day in the sunshine nicely.
