Lewisham Sewage Aqueduct

The Greenway Cycle Path goes under this historically significant aqueduct. It took three years to build and was completed in 1900.

It is significant because, "the oviform shape of the carrier is rare in Australia in consideration of the extent and date of the steel carrier. It is the only known example of its type, it demonstrates designs or techniques of exceptional interest and shows rare evidence of a significant human activity important to a community." This information is from the Sydney Water Heritage register, more information can be found here.

The pipe is still in use. They made things to last back then!
