Advent

On December 1st children around the UK look forward to the delights of their Advent calenders on the countdown to Christmas. It's along time since this one was filled with sweets and surprises but I still use it each year as part of the house decorations.

The Elder Daughter made this one when she was about 12. I got the design from a lady in the village who made ones for her grandchildren. We have a fantastic fabric shop in town that particularly panders to patchworkers. Every year when it comes to thinking about Christmas Window dressing she asks the local secondary school if the Technology Department would create a window display using pupils work. The kids can feel proud of having their work on display. I know R enjoyed taking part in this.

Speaking of the window dressing competition, thanks for all the well wishes. Ours came third in its section which is better than we do other years! It was nice that both of the staff were in today when the news was announced.
