Bus Challenge No 9!
As it was a beautiful day, and I had the time and the energy, I jumped on a bus to Bath, then caught a second bus to cross the border into Wiltshire and to the historic town of Bradford on Avon.
The history of the town can be traced back to Roman origins and the Town Bridge, which spans the River Avon, dates back to the 13th century, and was doubled in width in 1769. On the left of the picture you can just make out the 17th century Lock-up which may have replaced a medieval chapel (s0mebody needs to trim those trees!).
After visiting the local museum, where I was surprised to find out that Bradford on Avon was the birthplace of the British Rubber Industry, I spent a lovely afternoon pottering around the narrow streets and shops, and sampling the local Chocolate Brownies, for restorative medicinal purposes of course! A beautiful Spring outing, but it turned out to be a rather expensive one as I ended up buying an Italian leather handbag!!
