All that glitters is not gold!
Well, we hope that's right!
For those of you who've been following the new town centre development, you'll see that things have been coming along a pace. The windows are in and at night the lights are on. But now that they've started working on the outside facing, there have been one or two surprises.
Number one being this bright, shiny gold cladding. Apparently it will weather with time, but in the meantime if you come into town, make sure you bring your sunglasses!
Secondly, if you look at the lower portion of the building, you will see that it is in the process of being faced with local blue lias stone. Once again a very different colour to the one anticipated (nearly black!), and once again we've been told it will change colour as it weathers. But the latest development is that the contractors have run out of the blue lias and are unable to obtain any further supplies, so they are now having to fill in the gaps with a much lighter, sandy-coloured stone.
