Doha Days

Over the years I have overseen countless school social functions. I have never been responsible for an event like this one this evening. A falcon, Arab ponies, a camel and acres of Persian carpets and lashings of lamb and chicken with aromatic rice mixed with Qatari dances, readings from the Kuran and henna stencils all combined to make this a truly remarkable event. As we drove home it dawned on me that the one thing that haunted every UK and Polish outdoor school event I ever organised was not present here this evening and that was that the weather always guaranteed to be warm and dry never spoils the party here!
