Kilims

Over 25 years ago (wait, that can't be right! I'm far too young, surely.)... no, it was over 25 years ago, I used to work for a guy selling Turkish and Iranian and Afghani kilims; flat-woven rugs.

As part of the ongoing tidy-up of the study, I was clearing out one of the bookshelves and came across these Hali magazines; gorgeous journals of Middle Eastern and Asian textiles.

While almost none of the stuff we sold was remotely of this quality, it was still amazing to work in a world of rich colour and pattern... no job I've done since has been so visually stimulating.

Eventually, I gave up the work. Mostly, I was getting too annoyed at the customers (and the boss)...
