In this age of digital, I believe it's especially important to make prints of photos from time to time. I do enjoy the speed and convenience of storing and viewing photos digitally, but nothing compares to a well made print that you can hold in your hands.

I've been printing my own photos for a few years, but I tend to be lazy about rotating the ones displayed in our home. Taking the frames off the wall, removing the glass, matting the new print, etc. - I'd just put it off.

A few months ago I decided to change that. I found some modern-looking curtain hangers at Ikea and clipped the unframed prints to the steel wire. Much better. Still, it looked unfinished, and the prints tended to curl up. The finishing touch was to use black mats that are slightly larger then the prints themselves. This adds a nice border and some structure behind the paper to prevent it from curling. The prints are held on the mats by tiny magnets on front & back.

Now I have no excuse not to display new photographs every month or so!
