The Pheasant Inn Bassenthwaite Lake.
A quiet but very enjoyable day. I am not sure if I should call it meeting relations or a mini blip meet. There were 6 of us 4 were blippers and the other two took photographs.
As I said in my "about Jerra" page I have a wife, brother 2 daughters and a cousin who blip (hence my journal title). We had arrange to meet my cousin for lunch, so Kanyl, Mrs Kanyl, clickychick and myself set of for Embleton spa, to meet Derwent Lass and R. Well that was plan A. Plan A failed when the Embleton Spa was doing a good impression of the Marie Celeste. So plan B, down the road a mile or so to the Pheasant Inn.
What a contrast! The couple who followed us in filled the last available table, not bad business for a midweek lunch time! Even more impressive when you realise that the Inn has been bypassed twice and isn't visible from the road. The lunch was good and the conversation and company even better. R and I compared notes on joint replacement (he has had a knee and ankle replaced).
When lunch was over we left the Inn only to stand around talking until it started to rain. We really should meet up more regularly.
Quick historical note about the Inn. It is a17th century Inn which was at one time a haunt of the famous Cumbrian huntsman John Peel. Also note Bassenthwaite is the only Lake in the Lake District all the rest are waters or meres e.g. Ullswater or Windermere
