Lord of the Rings
Identification - Ypthima baldus newboldi, Common Five Ring.
This is a fairly common butterfly here, but still difficult to photograph. The problem is the approach as the butterfly is quite shy and sees you coming. The butterfly hogs the ground and low grasses and bushes, so when it lands, you generally have to take a knee for a top view, but to get a decent side view, you have to get down and dirty.
Just as you get your chin in the dirt, that is the time the butterfly will decide to move on, as she decides to let you know, “If you want to blip me, you are going to have to work for it”!
