I went on a photographic foray up to the Porte Marsh Estate and along Sandpit Lane up to where the path through the gravel works came out, but I found no pictures, noticing in passing that a massive new estate had been built off Sandpit Lane. A new Tesco is soon to be built near the roundabout, but no visible signs of its construction as yet.
As I came back empty-handed, here is Smokey enjoying the sun on my driveway earlier in the day.

Them - One Two Brown Eyes (recorded 5 July 1964)
Them were one of my favourite bands in the sixties, and this is just about as early as you can get. It was on the B-side of Don't Start Crying Now, a Slim Harpo song that was their very first single, before even Baby Please Don't Go/Gloria or Here Comes The Night. It is a Van Morrison composition, and was covered by Energy Orchard in the eighties.
