Woman at the well
The sun was shining brightly through this window in Holy Trinity Dunoon today - so brightly that there's a considerable loss of definition in the faces of Jesus and the woman - reminding me by the pool of coloured light on the floor and organ console of how this window used to be the focus of my attention on Sundays in the past.
When I sang in the (excellent, trebles + mixed voices) choir of Holy T in the 70s and 80s, I usually sat in the choir stalls facing this window, trying not to singe my knees on the lethally hot tubular heater that was suspended from the shelf under the book board. (What do you call that bit?) Now there is no choir and no choir stalls, and I face forwards instead of across the church, but this morning I felt I said hello to an old friend.
