It's a hard life

Not easy for caterpillars in the rain. This poor monarch caterpillar was having a sleep under other leaves but couldn't manage to stay dry. In large you can see the driplets on his tentacles too (I looked it up because I wasn't sure what they were called and they are tentacles not antennae). Mind you in large you can also see from the blurs in odd places that my lens had raindrops on it too.

Like most New Zealanders today, my blip depicts the rain. We have been very fortunate so far - just rain! However there is even heavier rain and some high winds predicted for tonight here.

Right now we are just celebrating (quietly so as not to minimise the damage done elsewhere in NZ) the watering of the ground, which farmers in our district sorely need.

NOTE: My thanks to all of you who have commented on, favourited and starred my last few entries - 5 out of 7 of them have made spotlight over the past week - not something that has ever happened to my blips before! Maybe the gurus at blip central are changing their spotlight criteria.
