End of an Era

Yesterday, Mum finally had Dad's workshop, shed and greenhouse demolished. Since his death a few years ago, these structures had become very unsafe and dilapidated. The job is still not complete as the builder/handyman under estimated the work and size of skip required to remove over 30 years of accumulated bits and pieces Dad had acquired in pursuit of his model engineering hobby and general handyman traits. However, we can now see daylight - literally, as they were positioned in the sunniest parts of the garden!

I spent most of today clearing a space for the garden toolbox bought to replace part of the shed, and clearing the patio so Mum can start enjoying the sunlight and planting her seeds. It is already looking a lot better.

I'm now shattered, and realised I hadn't managed to take a photo today. So it seemed fitting that I shot one of the model steam engines Dad made. This one is a Stuart Number 4 model standing 10" tall. As far as I know it is perfectly capable of being steamed, though wouldn't have a clue how to do it! Maybe one day!
