Keep the flag flying!
The floods are receding, and the road from Burrow Bridge to Taunton is open again.
This flag is flying outside a wood flooring business so badly flooded that the water came up to the roof of the roadside showroom - its picture featured prominently as a symbol of what was happening, and the owner appeared on television a few days ago, when he could get into the buildings behind (in waders), to show the damage to his stocks of flooring and his machinery.
The road just outside the business had been damaged, hence the traffic light to keep vehicles on the other side; otherwise the road seems to have survived its submersion very well, but there is a lingering smell of decay in the air.
Burrow Mump, with its unfinished/ruined church on top, on the horizon.
