Sunrise

Quite a spectacular sky this morning so as soon as I arrived at work I got the camera and tripod out. This is my first proper attempt at exposure blending - one exposure for the sky and one for the foreground. I'm happy with how it turned out despite the fact that the camera must have moved very slightly between exposures, so if you pixel-peep the image you can see the slight misalignment.

I took another shot in my usual fashion with the 3 stop grad ND filter and although it too is a nice image, the thin strip between the land and the cloud has blown out and lost that lovely golden detail.

I guess both methods have their merit in different situations, but since I'm badly in need of some new graduated filters (my old Cokin 3 stop is badly scratched) I'll be experimenting further with the exposure blending method.
