" Odd paws"

Today I have another blip from the surgery table- this is Danny a female non pedigree cat with very interesting colour markings and her owner tells me she has been well photographed.
Part of her is tortoiseshell but she has a white chest and white feet (which probably makes her tricolour) but also has tabby markings as can be seen from her front legs which are completely different in background colour although the stripes are very similar. One feature of tortoiseshell cats , apart from normally being female, is that the markings are usually asymmetrical.
The genetics of coat colour in cats is fascinating but strikes me as fairly complex - I wish I could understand it!
