On the Twin Coast Cycle Trail

We cycled 20 km from Kaikohe to Okaihau. It is a great trail - easy to ride, a variety of scenery, and easy access from Paihia or Kerikeri.

While we were having lunch in Kaikohe the fire alarm sounded to call the volunteer firemen to action ...... it went 3 different times suggesting a big fire somewhere in the area. When we rejoined the trail it was soon obvious that the fire had taken hold, as can be seen in the background of this photo.
