Weaver

Weaving cotton textiles with a backstrap loom. All the previous weavers I have seen using backstrap looms are in a sitting position on the ground or on a low chair, never standing.
This young woman lives in the village of Zinacantán, Chiapas, which is close to the city of San Cristóbal de Las Casas.
The women wear these lovely embroidered blouses and skirts every day.
I bought some beautiful purple placemats from her!
