Road Trip day 14

We spent another day in Cottonwood today.

Time to explore the area. In the morning we drove to Tuzigoot National Monument; an ancient pueblo on a desert hilltop. We explored the ruins of the pueblo and took some pictures.

Then we drove to Jerome. This is a small city on a hilltop. Once a thriving mining town, but with the exhaustion of resources, the population declined rapidly and Jerome became a ghost town.
From the 1960's several artists discovered Jerome as a place where they could get inspired for their arts and crafts. They settled, restored buildings and nowadays Jerome is a little town full of arts, crafts and antique stores. Therefore it attracts tourism and other artists. It's a beautiful place for photography too.
The picture I took is the front of a decayed building. Due to the mining, there was a 30 degree incline of the mountainside and gravity has pulled some buildings down. There were also some fires in the past. I don't know what happened to this particular building, but I thought it was worth taking its picture.
