Grilled Cheese n' Tomato Soup

I can't remember far enough back to not remember this food as the ultimate comfort food. Coming in to my mother's kitchen; cold, wet, and tired from playing in the snow, and having this simple meal put in front of me made me feel warm, dry and protected.
It's uncomplicated magic still works. And I'm grateful.

Today would be a good time for comfort because of the end of the life of my daughter's most trusted buddy for the last 15 years. Kidd, a mixed breed, short haired, ornery dog, has gone to his rest. He kept her company when no one else was around and listened to loads of things I'm sure I would never want to hear.
