Nice day to watch a game
Back to watching referees again this afternoon. A very pleasant early spring day watching a game played on an artificial surface which made a change as there was no need to wear wellies and wrap up against biting wind or driving rain. I could stand there in the sunshine in my best shoes!
The artificial surface is superb, taking a stud, but not causing any burns or other injuries as a result of tackles or hard groundings. An excellent surface which has seen much use over the last few months as it is often the only pitch playable under the very wet conditions we've been having.
A very early afternoon start meant an early walk around Mote Park in order to get to the match in South East London for a 1.00pm KO. But it had its compensations as I was able to get back home in time to watch Scotland lose the match against France that they should have won. How they managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory only they will know. They will never have a better chance of defeating the French.
Saturday evening was our special date night of the week, lamb curry washed down with cider, followed by ice-cream and preceded by large glasses of bacardi and lemonade, peanuts and crisps (crisps accompanied by chilli jam).
