Cuckoo Pint
Arum maculatum. Has lots of names, including Lords and Ladies.
These bright green leaves are a common sight along the bank and you can almost see them growing day by day.
They grow from tuberous roots. These are full of starch. In Elizabethan times they were dried and used for starching ruffs.
