There is a lot going on here
Flower show 2014
If you want to go, Thursday at 200 is the time. For some reason it is much smaller than it used to be.
This was a booth with cool things.
It was really nice to leave work and do something out of the ordinary.
Because,
Work was really stressful today.
My day started off really strange. A woman noticed my certificate on the wall of my office. She said "You have worked here for 30 years? I didn't think the hospital had been here that long " I thought she was joking.
I said "this hospital has been here since 1865"
This woman was raised in Portland. How could she miss this enormous building? MMC has 7k plus employees.
She was not joking.
She also was not a patient.
I admitted a man today who fell in love with my sweater. I will blip this sweater this week. It is a V-neck sweater with hula girls tastefully embroidered on it. About 27 hula girls with skirts that are actual skirts made from green threads like embroidery floss. I know I drive all you men wild. I suppose I shouldn't wear it near the male cardiac patients.
When I walked him down the hallway to the elevators He said: I don't think of it as a cute little redhead walking me down the hall, I think of it as 27 hula girls walking me to my room.
This sweater was a big hit with men today.
Oh and kids.
I was worried that I wouldn't be able wear it at work. We have a strict dress code.
For example, skirts can't be too short. They have to be longer than 4 inches above the knee. I have really Looooong legs. So they look shorter than they are. They have measured my skirts many many times. Did I mention I am 50 plus years old.
Some of our other dress code items are no hair colors that are not natural. This includes your pinks, yellows, green , blue, etc. for some reason, I never have had my hair checked.
Here is my favorite one. No yoga pants.! Who wears yoga pants to work in an office? Let's be honest, I didn't know yoga had it's own pants. Another memo I missed.
Anyway I didn't know if the hula girls broke the rules. They didn't. They all have brown hair and are not wearing yoga pants. They were all safe.
I went to work this morning in 4 degrees /minus 20 with the wind chill. When I left work at 130 the temperature had improved greatly. You know you live in Maine when you say " it's 20 degrees! Awesome I don't have to wear a hat!
Meanwhile Dad improves. The physical therapist will be by tomorrow. He will be a very busy boy.
Tomorrow should be a good day. You see, there is no mention of pajamas in the dress code.
