Brighter

I woke up this morning with a clear head - no pain since about Sunday - hurrah! It was so lovely to feel better and brighter. Such a lovely change! I meandered around the flat for a bit and then went into town to see my favourite new film, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. It's such a good film, even better on the third viewing. It's a film for photographers and I can't recommend it highly enough.

Afterwards I wandered back into town and went to a new café for tea and cake. It was lovely but very pricey and such a hipster hang-out. I had taken various photos but nothing that I wanted to blip so I decided to wander into the Grassmarket - there's always something to photograph down there. Sure enough, I soon met the lovely lady in this photograph.

I was attracted to her smile and her hat and we easily fell into conversation, soon joined by her daughter and two grandchildren, recently returned from living in China. I convinced the lady to stand against the wall when no sooner had she moved over but was surrounded by this group of visiting Frenchmen. They were flirting with her and it made a very different, very funny scene. After the photo I got to speaking with the aforementioned Frenchmen, in French. They said Vive le Québec libre! so naturally I replied with Vive l'Écosse libre!, as you do. I was wearing my new Canadian Olympic scarf and they demanded to see it in full. At either end of the scarf there is a picture of a beaver, national symbol of Canada as a hard-working, industrious animal (with no sniggering allowed). At the sight of the image, one of the Frenchmen leaned in conspiratorially and said that it was the dream of every Frencheman to xxx with a beaver... at which point I cut him off. I wasn't 100% certain that I had heard what I thought I had heard, but I reckoned it couldn't end well so with a playful ça suffit! we went our separate ways...

Soon afterwards I ran into the lovely SlyBacon and had a lovely chat. I made my way to Princes Street and thought how beautiful Edinburgh looked in the rain. Yes, I've clearly lived here a long, long time to think that. In any case, I took some more shots I liked and put them in a set.

Now off to the pub to see a couple of superbly lovely blippers. All in all, a beautiful day! I hope there is sunshine in your heart, wherever you are.
