There and back again

I wonder why ?

A couple of years ago a series of plaques appeared at various locations around Lamberts Castle where I take Jinxy most days. There was one large one (above) measuring about 12" x 12" and five or six smaller ones depicting events that had taken place here over the years.

Now, although Lamberts Castle is owned by the National Trust, I found out that in fact they had been erected by Dorset County Council who had received a grant to have the plaques made and to employ a person to promote them being here and to get get maps and printed material to go with them to encourage young people to take brass rubbings of the plaques. I even went as far as getting the name of the said person but was told that they no longer worked for the County!

Now I am sure that all this caused several thousand pounds to set up but it has all died a death and I have never seen any publicity for it or indeed any person. young or otherwise, using them.

I ask myself, Why was it done?
