Goodnight Sweet Butterflies

World Book Day 2014. Since the date was given to us, Katie has been planning to go as Lucy from Narnia. Until Tuesday evening. She then decided she wanted to go as a butterfly. We decided on the pink butterfly from Goodnight Sweet Butterflies. I spent yesterday morning raiding the scraps and shiny fabrics bags. I found a large triangle of pink heavy satin and realised I could make a pair of patchwork butterfly wings. They've used tulle, satin, organza, chiffon, ribbon, broderie anglais, cotton, lace. Sewn to a pink top, with elastic wrist straps, she declared this morning "They're amazing. Thats just how I wanted them". She has completed the outfit with a tulle skirt, a butterfly headband, ruffle shorts and tights. Monkey has a pair of butterfly wings too.

Its ballet tonight. Katie has already said that she thinks it should be ok for her to dance in her butterfly costume "because its pink and I'm already wearing tights and a tutu skirt, right Mummy?" Good luck to the teacher....
