Nearly finished
...the photo-poster with pics from HH's party last year, in time for his birthday on Friday.
Up till 1:30 am today trying to catch up with blips, so hardly surprising that I was sluggish and headachy for most of the day. Just realized it was this morning that I finished my work, not yesterday, as I said in the blip I just posted for yesterday – will have to do some editing there. Things have come to a pretty pass when one muddles one day up with the one before. :-(
This afternoon I pulled myself together and sallied forth to shop for our Saturday party. Also bought a drill (and all the bits and pieces) to leave up here, as we usually forget to bring one up with us and I want to hang some pictures. Carnival ended at lunchtime, the hordes have departed and the shops were empty (so were many of the shelves, but I found everything I needed). Optimistic calculations of being home for tea were dashed, though – everything took forever, so it was decaff tea at 6:30 instead of Earl Grey at four-ish. In the last shop, they were watching the voting on the samba school parades. We only really watched the first school to go out, and I thought they put on the best parade I’ve ever seen – the commentators were also enthusiastic. However, having moved up into the elite group only this year, they came last and will be back in the “Access Group" again next year. It’s a crying shame – the voting is rigged for sure, and heavily weighted in favour of the most famous schools. I’m sad for them.
I’m bushed, but am about to cut up mangoes for mango chutney. It won’t be sealed and stored for eight weeks, though, as Delia would have it, as we need it for Saturday.
