Out of the frying pan...

...but hopefully not into the fire. Today was mostly about work. With less than a month of my career break remaining, I'm now doing the rounds to persuade Scottish Government colleagues to "gie's a job" on my return.

This little fella has been with me throughout my civil service career, guarding my desk from tea, coffee, Irn Bru and Red Bull (depending on the job at the time). I lost him for a few years when I moved from Pentland House to Victoria Quay, but I spotted him on a colleague's desk on my return to Pentland and he was promptly repatriated.

Colleagues will confirm that his expression mirrors mine, although they may be less keen to comment on the frying pan.
