Oscar Awards
I've known for years that I have thoroughly enjoyed watching the Academy Awards even though I often have not seen the movies that are the focus of this big night. It is wonderful to see people being honored (and I know they have already been rewarded with tremendous salaries). Their "art" is one of the few that receives fabulous monetary reward -- good for them!
So here is a photo of Cate Blanchett winning best actress for "Blue Jasmine."
I was so enjoying the show that I didn't think till late in the evening to take some photos. I wish I had caught a photo of Lupita Nyong'o because her win was absolutely the best! Her win was for Best Supporting Actress in the movie “12 Years A Slave.” I think it is marvelous that the president of Kenya twitted “You are the pride of Africa.” I'm sure that will be the compliment of her life!
Mr. Fun & I both thought that Ellen DeGeneres was terrific. She is just plain FUN. We loved the "pizza" portion of the Oscars. What a great night for the pizza delivery guy --Edgar Martirosyan, the owner of Big Mama’s and Papa’s Pizzeria in West Hollywood. He said the total tip was actually $1,000, not just the $600 announced by Ellen at her chat show. He said he planned to share it with his staff. “Four hundred actually was ... from actors, and then Ellen added another $600,” he said, confirming it was the biggest tip he’s ever received.
Martirosyan said, “They told me I’m going to deliver pizzas for writers, and then when I went there, Ellen (DeGeneres) came out and told me, ‘Just follow me,’” he recalled. “When I was going, I realized I’m on the stage, and I just went. … I wasn’t nervous. I was cool. I was shocked. I didn’t know what was going on.” “It’s good,” he said, referring to the boost to his business. “A lot of calls. It’s busy, it’s good.”
He said he was getting calls from his home country of Armenia and Russia, where he used to live in Moscow.
DeGeneres certainly made his night. Hip hip hooray for all of them. I thought it was a fun show -- much, much better than the Grammys.
I was born in Hollywood -- I'm attracted to that place!
