Pretty In Pink
Psychedelic Furs 1986
Spent last night at probably the most Out of Africa setting of all, fabulous views along the plain to distant hills for amazing sunset shots (see folio later) and motored to Swakpomund after a lunch stop at Walvis Bay for pies by the flamingo filled seash ore.
Blowing a gale so it was really sand pies but we were just about used to that by then.
We spent two nights at Swakopmund, using it as a base to do various optional stuff, many did quadbiking through the dunes and a dolphin cruise from Walvis, I chose a Township tour on the second day and a scenic flight with two of the girls the afternoon we arrived.
The flight was slightly challenging to arrange at a sensible price but we got there in the end and buy was it worth it. If you ever find yourself down there do consider doing the flight to get the bird's eye views of the dunes, to see how the dunes joins up with the scrubland, the lines of trees where there must be plentiful underground water supplies, the abandoned 30s gold mines, the Skeleton Coast shipwrecks in the sand, the contrast of the township areas with the little bit of BavariabytheSea that is Swakopmund and last but not least the cute Dutch pilot who might tell you about the funky Tiger beach bar for sundowners and the most amazing beach sunset views.
Loads for the folio from our two Swakop days but I'm putting up these flowering cacti for todays blips as they're stunning to look at and my best fauna shot from the whole trip.
